Industry Analyses
Industry analyses answer questions such as:
- What are the region’s key industries and are they growing or shrinking?
- What is the underlying structure of the local economy (categorized by industry codes)?
- What are the larger regional trends and how are they affecting the specific geography?
- Which local industries appear to be in the strongest competitive position for growth and expansion?
- What are specific industry trends in the region, and how are the sectors different from decades past?
An industry analysis can lead to the identification of a geography's economic base industries, essentially the drivers of the local economy. We can also carry out a competitive assessment of the industries to identify who may be gaining or losing competitive advantage. This exercise can lead to the determination of which industries are a good fit for an area and the basis for development of a “targeted industry” list across a broad spectrum of industries as a way to generate logical and likely economic development markets for the town.
